教书先生回家过年，为救要跳井的施潘嫂将教书馆银接济给她，不料回到家中，师母正等他的银子去买米。饥饿难熬中，先生只好去偷林嫂家地里的番薯。林嫂知先生师德好，送年货上门；施潘夫妇登门拜谢，三家和睦过年。。A pilots pregnant wife is killed by a band of thugs who break into their home. The gang is caught and sent off to prison.
